How did we get here?

In 2023, Joseph Rowntree Foundation put out an open call, asking:

Over 60 people responded to this open call, and from that pool of applicants 18 people were chosen to attend a four day workshop. Participants were selected to represent a broad range of communities from across York.

The workshop was designed and led by New Constellations, and funded by JRF and The National Lottery Community Fund’s Bringing People Together Programme.

Where the workshop took place

The theme over the four days centred around a journey that led us away from the York of the present, into the York of the future, and then brought us back together again to share what we had learned.

We stepped out of our comfort zones to explore new horizons with a diverse group of people, through a mixture of group sessions and individual responses. We were introduced to new concepts, such as embodiment practice, and new theories such as the Berkana Two-Loop Model and Third Horizons.

The outcome of this was a set of guiding stars that we could each use to continually re-orient ourselves, as we continued our journey as a group outside of the support of JRF and New Constellations.

We will share the stars in our next blog post.
